Billables.ai
AI Timekeeping and Task Intelligence
Introduction
Time tracking is broken. People forget to log hours, estimate badly, or spend longer managing a timesheet than doing the work it records — and for legal teams billing by the hour, that gap is revenue walking out the door. Billables.ai uses AI to observe how work actually happens, predict task durations, and automate the parts of timekeeping nobody wants to do. I led the product design, turning a technically complex system into something that feels effortless.

The Challenge
Lawyers lose real money to inaccurate time capture, and most software built to fix it is dense enough that less technical users quietly avoid it. AI timekeeping also fails the moment the interface makes someone feel surveilled. The design had to read as intelligent without being invasive — every prediction a helpful nudge rather than an automated verdict — and it had to sit inside the tools people already used.

The Solution
The dashboard surfaces what matters — billable hours, task predictions, team utilization — without burying users in data. AI suggestions appear as gentle recommendations that users can accept, modify, or dismiss. The data visualization layer makes complex patterns readable at a glance, so managers spend less time in spreadsheets and more time making decisions.
